ATH Projects

I would love for After the Harvest to be much more than just a blog, so I have created the Projects Page. Please read on and help me give back!

PROJECT #2: CULTIVATE: A Mini Film Fest

After the Harvest's second project is....
CULTIVATE: A Mini Film Fest! I decided to take the blog out into the real world for a change and host an event. At this event, you'll get to see two food-related films, featuring "Ingredients", a film about local farmers and local eating. There will also be snacks available and a silent auction at intermission.

All proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit Heifer International, a charity that, in their own words, "is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help end world hunger and poverty through self-reliance & sustainability."
Event Info:

Date and Time: Saturday, September 24th, 3:00 p.m. (Doors at 2:30)
Location: The Mayfair Theatre, 1074 Bank Street, Ottawa
Price: $10 at the door, children view free
(recommended for children 7+)
standard Mayfair movie snacks will be available.
Silent Auction: A range of reasonably-priced items to please all kinds! (Art, music, food-related items etc!)
*All Proceeds from Tickets, Snacks and Silent Auction

I look forward to seeing you all there :)

A little teaser...

PROJECT #1: SAVE A SEED

Image: Jackson Nash

My first project is my attempt to "Save a Seed". SuperForest, another blog I contribute to, did just that this past year, by raising $3000 to save an entire plant species. This effort is all a part of the Kew Gardens' Millenium Seed Bank Project to save seeds and plant species around the world.

Since plants are so essential to our diets and food experiences, I felt the need to support this initiative, and you can help me do so! All you need to do is donate to After the Harvest's Save a Seed fund by clicking on cute little Mr. Seed, who lives on the left hand sidebar of the blog.

For more information, you can consult the following links, or check out this nifty video that explains the whole process:
